Kyla Romero is from the Lafayette area. In 2007, at the age of 3, she took her first dance class and fell in love with dance. She trained with The Ballet Studio under the direction of Beverly Spell for ten years and trained as a teacher's assistant her last two years there. In the fall of 2017, Kyla began her training with Jasmine Bertrand at Bluebirds Ballet Academy, expanding her dance education with additional classes in ballet, as well as jazz and modern technique and continuing her training as a teacher's assistant under the mentorship of Jasmine Bertrand. 

In 2020, Kyla became a Bluebirds teacher! She attended a teacher’s workshop, “ Inspired”, with Leah Twilley in June of 2021. This workshop taught her about class preparation and personal growth as a teacher. For the academic year, August 2021-May 2022, Kyla participated in the BasinBirds program between Bluebirds and BasinArts. She took Ballet and Jazz under the direction of Jasmine Bertrand and Modern with Claire Cook and Alex McBride. She represented Basin Arts at Festival International 2022 by dancing with the primary level students she had assisted throughout the year. Kyla hopes to spark the same self confidence and joy that Jasmine has instilled in her into the students she teaches. She brings her kind, nurturing nature to each of her classes, sharing the love of dance that was sparked so many years ago with Bluebird's youngest aspiring ballerinas.
